Kelsea Ballerini Reveals Her Top 9 Favorite Songs to Cover

Kelsea Ballerini, one of our fav country music gals to listen to, was recently nominated for the CMAs and is currently on tour with Dan and Shay.

We recently had the opportunity to interview Kelsea to get to know her and see what she likes most about being a singer.

We were able to compile a short list of her all time favorite songs to sing, and how she feels when she covers each of them. Hearing what she thinks about each song makes us love these girl power anthems just a little bit more than we already did:

1. Cowboy Casanova -Carrie Underwood

“I remember watching Carrie open her concert with this song and thinking that it was epic.”

2. Ms. Independent -Kelly Clarkson

“Kelly Clarkson is my favorite artist of all time, and this is the first song I remember hearing from her.”

3. Make the World Go Away -Eddy Arnold (Martina McBride Cover Version)

“I’ve always wanted to sing this song on the Opry Stage. I’ve actually been able to do it twice now!!”

4. What Hurts the Most -Rascal Flatts

“This is my favorite country song of all time. Isn’t it everyone’s?!?!”

5. Downtown -Lady Antebellum

“I was able to tour with Lady Antebellum this summer and I got to watch people freak out over this song every single night.”

6. Girl Crush -Little Big Town

“When I play this cover, you can’t even hear my voice because everyone is singing so loud over it! I love how it’s become an anthem for so many.”

7. Thinking of You -Katy Perry

“This song is the perfect blend of pop with a country story.”

8. Stupid Boy -Keith Urban

“This is the first country song I remember ever hearing. It has a really special meaning, for sure.”

9. Ghost In This House -Allison Krause

“I’ve actually never covered this song. It’s definitely on my cover #goals list.”
