5 Reasons Why Nerds Become Highly Successful in Life

As a nerd, life doesn’t always come so easily. Sure, schoolwork was never difficult, but making friends and gaining popularity was usually out of the question unless there was a jock needing help with homework. For a nerd, a cool kid might have tried copying your test paper or hoped to be paired with you for group assignments, but this didn’t equal friendship since this was basically the only time they acknowledged your presence.

Being a nerd can equal a life of solitude. Which isn’t such a bad thing since it allows plenty of time for studies, setting and achieving goals, and ultimately succeeding at almost anything attempted. Here are 5 reasons why nerds become highly successful in life:

1. Nerd Alert: Working Hard Comes Naturally Nerds are typically more driven to succeed and aren’t used to things coming so easily for them… well, if you exclude the obvious studies-related stuff.

This instills a solid work ethic and for most nerds, they are scholastically competitive by nature which bodes well in real life once a nerd reaches the working world.

2. Friends? What Are Those? Without a bunch of friends, parties, and social events to consume time, most nerds have little to no excuse to not succeed.

Nerds are naturally better about sticking to routines and prioritizing how they choose to spend their time compared to social butterflies. This equals success when less distractions are an issue. Party boys and girls might be busy losing valuable brain cells on keg stands while nerds are brushing up on their studies to ace those college exams come test time.

3. Nerds Rule the World This one couldn’t be any more true. Think of some of the most successful people in our lifetime: Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Larry Page (Google)… the list goes on and the net worth of some of these nerds is truly astonishing.

Don’t see many jocks and bad boys on the list of the richest people in the world, now do you? That’s one for Team Nerd. And if you think about it, nerds are rather popular as they have infiltrated the mainstream pop culture now… Big Bang Theory is a great example of today’s culture showing lots of love to the nerd kind.

4. Revenge of the Nerds A life best lived is truly the best revenge of all. After a seemingly boring childhood filled with being the last one picked, bad clothing options, and endless hours of studying to get ahead, becoming highly successful can grant many nerds true happiness.

The taste of winning was never so sweet when nerds see the cool kids washed up by the time the ten year reunion hits.

5. What Doesn’t Kill You Will Only Make You Stronger Dork. Loser. Dweeb. Every nerd has been called these names time and time again throughout their childhood. Taking negativity and turning it into motivation to do better is what a nerd knows best. Without good looks and cool clothes many nerds are in a category of their own, alienated, typically left out, and subject to the unkind words of those who are secretly jealous of them.

But like anything in life, karma is the revolving door that will come back to hit you in the ass if you put negative energy out into the world—especially to those who don’t deserve it! Who’s got the last laugh now, simpleton?
