Some guys our age make good boyfriends, but it’s a whole other ball game to be great hubby material too.
If you're not sure whether or not your man is it in for the long haul, there are some sure signs that he’ll make a great husband... and you betta start dropping hints to put a ring on it:
1. He accepts (and actually kinda loves) your bodily functions. All of them.
A friend of mine once told me that she had never taken a shit at her guy’s place, and they had been together for almost a year.
Like, are you for fucking real????
No, you don’t necessarily have to blast out a dirty, wet, I-hate-myself-for-eating-curry-last-night, shit in front of him, but when it does happen (with the bathroom door closed) he’ll laugh about it. At the end of the day, we’re all human; we all have the same bodily functions.
2. He may call your period shark week but there’s a box of chocolates on the counter.
Let’s be real. Guys who are squeamish about our periods are so last year ten years ago. Men who are curious about the female body are strangely and wonderful sexy.
He doesn’t get one, so anything about it may be intriguing: What’s it feel like? How does it work? Basically the questions that we had when we were shy, awkward, prepubescent girls.
He’ll be understanding when you eat an entire bag of Doritos and then cry about eating an entire bag of Doritos. And then he’ll kiss you and tell you that you’re cute when you’re psycho.
3. He has slip ups with words like family, kids, and wedding.
He may say that he doesn’t think about the future, but you've heard the undertones in that casual convo when he said that he wants a sunset wedding, or when he made it clear that your hypothetical kids don’t necessarily have to take only his last name.
When kids come around, he likes to ask them questions and he won’t flip a shit about holding a baby. This is the kinda guy who wants a family himself one day.
4. He teaches you things.
A man with brains is sexy - whether he’s wearing glasses or not.
He believes that a person only becomes old when they stop learning, and his thirst to attain more knowledge is never ending. He values education and he’s always teaching you something new. At the same time...
5. He also lets you teach him things.
Does it not just absolutely kill your lady hard-on when a guy is an arrogant know it all? Look, dude, we can’t all know everything, and a man who can sit back, listen, and learn is a guy with balls.
It won’t hurt his ego because he grew outta that ego years ago: flaunt your forte and show ‘em how it’s done, ladies.
6. He doesn’t mind being the only guy when you bring around your girlfriends.
Of course, on certain days it’s nice to have your girls-only time (and it’s actually really fucking important for your own sanity) but a guy who likes to kick it with your gals is a true keeper.
He’ll aimlessly walk around when you shop and although he may zone out when you chitter chatter about gossip, at least he won’t roll his eyes or complain.
7. He wants to be your Superman, but also lets you play Mama Bear.
A great, healthy relationship is a true balancing act: neither he nor you should always be taking on the role of caretaker.
He enjoys doting on you and making you feel safe, but not all the time. He’s got enough man in him to let you take the reins in the control sometimes too.
8. He loves the way you look at all hours of the day.
A man who thinks that you’re just as sexy in an oversized tshirt and bootie socks as you are in a tight dress and comefuckme heels, is a keeper.
He’ll roll over and kiss your morning breath lips, he’ll tease you for your stinky shoes, and he’ll grab your bed head and ravish you the same way he would if you were in lingerie.
He loves you for you, not for what you look like.
9. He wants to know about your past - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
He knows that everyone’s got a past, and not all of it is always gonna be pretty.
He’s not the kinda guy who will judge you for past hook ups because he knows that everything before him doesn’t really matter anyways.
Besides, deep down he’s thinking about your future.
