You probably have so many pure, fulfilling things happening in your life and the only person stopping yourself from feeling them is you. I bet you don’t even realize you’re doing it.
I bet your mind is always talking to you, even when you want it to stop. You probably have a thousand thoughts a minute that distracts you from all of the genuinely happy feelings you want to feel.
I bet you have a lot of people who really care about you. But you don't even realize it because you’re too caught up with that one boy who didn’t care enough.
I know you want to be happy, and you tell yourself all the time that you will be, eventually. Maybe you say that after you meet the right guy, or get rid of the toxic friend who’s been holding you back, maybe then, you’ll be able to let yourself be happy. You’ve tried every excuse you can think of to explain to yourself what has been holding you back from happiness all of these years.
But all of these little things, that you thought would make you happy, come and go and you realize that you still feel like something’s just constantly missing.
That missing piece can’t be filled no matter how many times you dye your hair or paint your nails. You can try as many temporary fixes as you want, but I promise you they’ll never work. In the end, you’re still you, and you’re still holding yourself back from being where you want to be.
The truth is, you need to be intoxicated with yourself first before any of the things life has to offer are going to get you drunk.
What you really, truly need, is to be in a place with yourself that you feel like you don’t need the new shoes or fresh makeup to make you feel like you’re genuinely happy with the person you are.
Before anything, or anyone can ever make you feel happy for the long term, you need to be proud of the person you are and the missions you have accomplished.
You should be excited by the life you wake up for every morning. You should never be ashamed when you look in that mirror. Be the only person you need to have the life you’ve always imagined, and then fill that life with people who make you even better.
There’s nothing more important in your life than yourself, and how you feel about yourself. And there is never a day where you should stop working on yourself.
Girl, you deserve to be happy. We all do. And while other people, and things, come and go, you can still be lively and ecstatic with your life.
