He's Grounded While You're Flying: 5 Perks of Dating Your Opposite

You were born to fly. You're creative, passionate, happy-go-lucky, with the world in your hands. You twirl through life, each day bringing a new, exciting adventure. You have big goals and dreams in life and you know one day you can make it happen. All you have to do is believe.

He, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of you. He is straight-forward, logical, and content. A little skeptical, he plans ahead to make sure life works out for the two of you. He's aware of the details, the fine print that get you through each day such as bills, budgeting, and taxes. He is down-to-earth and definitely isn't into flying.

It might seem as though the two of you were not right for each other, being so different. On the contrary, you two create the perfect balance! Here are 5 perks of dating your opposite:

1. While you might want to take some spontaneous road trip across the country, he's going to make you think it through. It might seem like a buzzkill, but you really do have to consider the details! (Cost, responsibilities, where you're staying, packing, etc.)

At the same time, he would have never considered a spontaneous road trip! You're broadening his horizons, keeping him doing things he's never done before. The two of you figure out a logical plan and make it happen!

2. He doesn't want to buy anything but the bare necessities. Basic food, basic housing, basic clothes. Anything more than that is excess and there's no purpose in it.

But you know that is far from the truth! You dress him better, buy a bigger, better variety of food (which he can't deny he enjoys!), and your house looks more like a home than a template house.

3. You're all about if it looks good. This plain casserole dish would work, but this one is prettier! Why just stop at something getting the job done? Make it attractive too!

He couldn't care less. As long as it works, it looks good to him. A bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling? He can see, that's all that matters! It's a daily struggle explaining to him the use of some things that he deems unnecessary.

Because of this, you two don't own anything extravagant, but you do have things you can be proud of!

4. You're creative and passionate! You read an article on relationships and have big plans on improving your relationship. You appreciate romantic words and gestures, each one touching your heart. You try to do little things you found on Pinterest that show how much you love your S.O.

He never even thinks of these things. Pinterest is a chick site, those articles are full of crap, and he thinks saying "I love you" a few times a week is romantic enough.

By compromising on each other's ideas, you don't read too much into love articles and you don't fly off the handle when he doesn't ask you about your day when he's supposed to. He tries doing more of the little things, sending you a sweet text and buying you a small bouquet. Nothing major, but you see it from each other's perspective and are both happy.

5. You're ready to have fun! If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong. It's not time to settle down. It's not time for bed. Carpe diem!

He prefers to stay at home. He does a few things around the house, watches a show or two, and is ready for bed. He had a long day of work and he's settled down.

Here comes the middle ground! You keep him wild, he keeps you safe. You need down time, he needs to get out more. You need to spend time at the house and get some things done, he needs to get out of the house and have some fun! You balance your time, and you're both better off for doing so.

While some of these situations may lead to arguments, in the end if it leads to compromise, each of your lives are better because of your complete opposite significant other.

You dream big, raising each of your standards of living; He brings the logic, thinking it through and, a lot of times, bringing you back to reality. You both have a special relationship, one other couples strive for! Opposites attract for a reason!
