Here’s the thing, life is tough as it is, and for the longest time girls have been expected to fulfill societal expectations that for the most part are old fashioned and not exactly accurate with our own reality. Everyone’s journey should be unique, so we should all have the freedom to choose whatever the hell we feel is right for us, based on our own circumstances, likes, preferences and individual beliefs.
It’s exhausting to be expected to fit a mold just because we’re used to living in a cookie cutter world. Being yourself should be celebrated and not frown upon, so you should refuse to comply with what’s expected of you as a girl in this world, and spend your time finding out who you really are and embracing your uniqueness.
“This is your journey, your body, your mind and your spirit. Dig deep, own it and start doing things for you and by you.”
You only have one life to live, so it shouldn’t be people’s business what you do with it. Yes, it might not be a piece of cake to follow through your own unique plan to do as you please. It takes courage, confidence and a whole lot of self-esteem to ignore the messages about who we should be that are presented to us on a daily basis, making us feel like shit and inadequate about ourselves.
Guess what, you owe it yourself to fight for your own personal freadom. Find those things that you’re passionate about and make them your motivation to say “fuck it!, I’m doing me” and do whatever it takes to follow what your heart desires. Only you can decide what’s best for you, not your family, your friends or society.
Once you find what truly makes you happy, only you have the authority to live your truth as it’s intended. You won’t always get it right, life is hard and you should expect yourself to make mistakes. This doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path and that you should stop following your heart. It just means you’re committed to who you really are and understand that part of paving your own path means overcoming mistakes along the way. After all, mistakes are meant to teach you lessons and guide you, not define you. Mistakes are stepping stones to your success.
“You are a bright light in this world for a reason. No one or no thing has the right to dull your shine... not even you”
