A Letter to The Average College Student, From the Average College Student

Sooo..you might have changed your major once, twice?

Ehh, third times the charm right? Wrong..it can't hurt to change four times..

Is there a limit on how many times you can change your major?

Who am I kidding I'm not meant to go to college anyways!

I am just stuck in a classroom not knowing what the hell I want to be when I grow up while this professor barks down my neck and tells me I have 10 homework assignments and two quizzes due in like 2 minutes.

You know how at the beginning of the semester all these professors want to go around the room and make you stand awkwardly in your over sized Goodwill sweatshirt with Ramen noodle stains on it and state your name and a fun fact about yourself or EVEN WORSE..your major?!

And while some of us stand proudly and quickly state those words," Hey, my name is blah and my major is Nursing."

Cause whose major isn't nursing? Let's be honest.

Others of us, slump down ever so slightly in our chairs praying that somehow while the other 10 people in front of you were rambling you developed invisibility and the teacher would just completely miss you.

 *insert major LOL here*

*Awkwardly stands up*

"Uh hey, my name is Jane Doe. And my major is undecided."

Your professor smiles a concerned smile and with a stutter replies, “ That’s okay! I’m sure a lot of others are in the same boat.” Then she goes on and on trying to relate to you when you know damn well she always knew she wanted to teach.

Well I might as well so crawl back in my awkward hole and die.

Then a classmate stands up and is an undeclared major also!

#highfive

Let's face it, we aren't as alone in this as we think we are. So many of us don't know what the hell happened last night after we left the bar, let alone what we are going to do the rest of our lives.

WE HAVE TIME.

Right now just relax a bit don't be so worried about a major. Have a glass of wine and chill. As long as you are in school and getting an education it's not hurting anything..well, besides your savings account of course.
