To the Girl Who Should Have Confidence but Doesn't

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? — Marianne Williamson

You underestimate yourself without even realizing it.

You wouldn’t be able to do what you do if you didn’t have a natural talent in you. It’s part of who you are, but it’s more a part of who you could be.  It’s true that even when you barely try you do well. But why do well when you can be the best?

You believe people too easily when they cut you down.

I’ve seen you go through it before. Someone makes a slight dig without thinking, and then you’re discouraged like crazy when they didn’t even know what they were talking about. They hardly even know you. They are judging the whole of you based on a tiny little piece. They can only slow you down if you let them.

There’s no use in comparing yourself to others.

You’re not like them because you’re you. That’s something you should strive towards instead of away from. You have your own story and path to follow. Not to mention, you never know who might be comparing themselves to you too. But they don’t even know the half of it…

Your goodness comes from within.

There’s an energy in you that can’t be contained, so let yourself go forward with it. You’ll never find satisfaction by relying on others to tell you how great you are. It’s only when you let your own heart lead you that all your potential will be realized. You don’t need anyone’s approval but your own.

Don’t let fear of making a mistake stop you…

Sometimes you’re so careful about doing things right that you become paralyzed. You can be a bit of the procrastinating perfectionist sometimes because you take what you do so seriously. But it’s no use. You only hold yourself back when you overthink it. Just keep moving, because the biggest mistake you ever might make is not trying at all.

…Fear the things you won’t do.

The biggest thing you have to lose is all your potential. The greatest thing you should fear is the regret that might come if you don't live up to everything you can be. Remember that everyone is afraid, sometimes. It’s okay to have doubts, sometimes; just don’t let it stop you from going forward. Everyone who loves you has your back. And we believe in you even if you’re not so sure sometimes. Remember that.
